Jane Weston Wilson, witty and knowledgeable food columnist, passed away peacefully just before Thanksgiving. She was in her early 80's. Jane, a lifelong enthusiast for good eating, was a former caterer and magazine editor ((Vegetarian Times). She was the author of several books, including "Cook Once, Eat Twice" and "Eating Well When You Just Can't Eat the Way You Used To Cookbook." In her retirement years, (when she never actually retired), she created workshops for The Transition Network and continued to write on food preparation. She will be sorely missed by all her friends and by everyone at AgingInActionUWS.
Dear cousin Jane was such an inspiration. The first time my mother received one of her cookbooks and read the anecdotes she mentioned how she remembered the family recipes. I, of course, will not part with them. We had not physically spoken in a few years and how I will miss this last connection to our forebears. Jane was so much fun and always welcomed her California family to the city. - Sallie Seymour Piccorillo

JANE WAS MY NEIGHBOR AND FRIEND FOR OVER 20 YEARS. SHE AND I COLABORATED ON SEVERAL RESTAURANT MENUS TOGETHER. IAM SO SAD TO FIND OUT ABOUT HER DEATH. I LAST VISITED HER IN NYC 3 YEARS AGO. THIS IS A SAD DAY FOR ME.

Wow. This is so sad! Jane was a good old friend with whom a group of us founded Motherless Daughters in 1995. I was just searching for her on facebook, and thought I'd google her, and came upon this. Let this be a lesson to us all in reaching out to our old friends when we think of them, and not putting it off as I did. Rest in peace, dear Jane. We love you. And you made a huge difference in the lives of all you touched.
